Types of Fires
Fires are classified by the type of fuel that is burning.
|A||These fires consist of ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, fabric, plastic, and most kinds of trash.|
|B||These are fires whose fuel is flammable or combustible liquid or gas such as gasoline, oil, propane, or natural gas.|
|C||These are fires involving potentially energized electrical equipment, short-circuiting machinery, or overloaded electrical cables.|
|D||These fires consist of combustible metals such as magnesium, potassium, titanium, and zirconium.|
|K||These fires involve unsaturated cooking oils in well-insulated cooking appliances located in commercial kitchens.|
